Accessibility Statement

Burns Landscaping is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We want everyone who visits our Site to be able to learn about our services, explore our work, and request an estimate with ease and independence.

Our standard

Our goal is for the Site to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 (opens in a new tab) at Level AA. These guidelines are the widely recognized benchmark for accessible websites and are referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508. We also follow the relevant portions of WCAG 2.2 where they are practical to apply.

What we have done

The following measures are in place on the Site:

• A “Skip to main content” link at the top of every page, and consistent page landmarks (navigation, main content, footer) for screen-reader users.
• Full keyboard operation of all menus, buttons, forms, and portfolio filters, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
• A “Pause motion” control, available on every page, that stops background video, animated backgrounds, and moving content. The Site also respects the “reduce motion” setting in your operating system or browser.
• Colour contrast that meets the WCAG AA ratio of at least 4.5:1 for text.
• Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images, with purely decorative images and background video hidden from assistive technology.
• Form fields with visible, programmatically associated labels, marked required fields, and error and confirmation messages that are announced to screen readers.
• A logical heading structure and page titles that describe each page.
• Text that can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or function, and layouts that reflow on small screens.
• No content that flashes more than three times per second.

How we test

The Site was evaluated in September 2026 using a combination of automated testing (the axe-core accessibility engine) across every page, and manual review of keyboard navigation, focus order, and screen-reader semantics. We re-test whenever significant changes are made to the Site.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the Site may not yet be fully accessible. We are aware of the following and are working to address them:

• Portfolio photographs on the Our Work page are presented as a visual gallery. Each image is accompanied by a text caption describing the type of project, but individual photographs do not yet have detailed descriptions.
• Background videos are decorative and have no audio. They do not carry captions or audio description because they contain no speech or essential information.
• Some third-party content (for example, fonts and media delivered by outside providers) is outside our direct control.

Feedback and assistance

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the Site. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, have difficulty using any part of the Site, or need information from the Site in an alternative format, please contact us. We will make every reasonable effort to respond within two business days and to provide the information or service you need.

You can also request an estimate or ask a question by telephone at any time; you never need to use the website to work with us.

Technical information

The Site is built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge) and with common assistive technologies including screen readers, screen magnifiers, and speech-recognition software.

This statement was prepared on September 8, 2026 and is reviewed at least annually, or whenever the Site changes substantially.
