Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit our website or request an estimate.
Burns Landscaping (“Burns Landscaping,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website (the “Site”), how we use it, whom we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you request an estimate or consultation through our contact forms, we collect the information you choose to provide: your first and last name, email address, phone number (optional), the service you are interested in, and any details you share about your property or project. If you call us, we may keep notes of the conversation so we can follow up.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we record limited technical and usage information. This includes the pages you view, whether the visit is new, the website that referred you, any campaign tags in the link you used (UTM parameters), the page you first landed on, and standard server data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the date and time of your visit. We use this information to understand how people find and use the Site, to attribute estimate requests to the source that brought you here, to keep the Site secure, and to diagnose problems. We do not use it to build advertising profiles or to track you across other websites.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect payment card information through the Site. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or social media pixels on the Site.
2. How we use information
- To respond to your inquiry, schedule a consultation, and prepare an estimate or proposal.
- To communicate with you about your project, our services, and program options such as Balanced Billing.
- To understand which sources and pages lead to estimate requests, so we can improve the Site and our outreach.
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Site.
- To comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
We only send marketing messages if you have asked to receive them, and you may opt out at any time by contacting us.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. Companies that help us run the Site and our business. In particular, estimate requests and site usage data are sent to a customer relationship management system (the Burns Landscaping Hub) that is operated for us by our website provider, TaskGrid, so that we can track and respond to leads. Other providers include web hosting, content delivery, and email services. Providers may only use your information to perform services for us.
- Legal requirements. When required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfers. If Burns Landscaping is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
4. Cookies, local storage & analytics
The Site does not set third-party advertising or analytics cookies. It uses a small amount of browser storage for the following purposes:
- Visit attribution. On your first visit we store the referring website, campaign tags from the link you used, and your landing page in your browser’s local storage, and a flag in session storage that marks the current browsing session. This lets us tell which source brought you to us if you later request an estimate. Nothing in this record identifies you by name.
- Motion preference. If you use the “Pause motion” control, your choice is saved in local storage so it persists between pages. It is never sent to us.
Each page you view sends a short, anonymous usage record (the page path and whether the visit is new) to our customer relationship system so we can measure Site traffic. You can clear all stored data at any time through your browser settings, and you can block storage entirely; the Site will still work. Our hosting provider may set strictly necessary cookies needed to deliver the Site securely.
5. Third-party services
Certain parts of the Site are delivered by third parties, and your browser will connect directly to their servers. These providers may receive your IP address and standard browser information as part of serving the content:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) delivers the typefaces used on the Site. See Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
- Cloudinary hosts and delivers the photographs and video on the Site. See Cloudinary’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
- Vercel hosts the Site and keeps standard server logs for security and reliability. See Vercel’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
- Burns Landscaping Hub (burnslandscapinghub.com), our customer relationship system, receives estimate requests and the usage records described above.
6. Data retention
We keep contact form submissions and related correspondence for as long as needed to respond to you, provide services, maintain business records, and meet legal and accounting requirements. Usage and attribution records are kept in aggregate form for reporting; individual technical log data is generally retained for a short period unless it is needed to investigate a security incident. You may ask us to delete your information at any time (see Section 8).
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and protections against automated form abuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting Massachusetts residents, we will provide notice as required by Massachusetts law (M.G.L. c. 93H).
8. Your choices & rights
You may contact us at any time to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to any legal obligation to keep it.
- Opt out of marketing communications.
We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time and, where applicable, within the period required by law. Residents of states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws may have additional rights under those laws; we honor such rights to the extent they apply to us. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising their privacy rights. Because the Site does not track users across third-party websites, it does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals in a way that would change its behavior.
9. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for adults seeking landscaping services and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Links to other sites
The Site may link to websites we do not control, including social media platforms. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
